Author's Note: I honestly dislike calling Onew by his real name. It doesn't roll off my tongue right and Jinki sounds like a baby name. Onew is nyu baby. But for fiction's sake, I'll try to call him by his moniker. 



There’s that grimace again

It shears through his façade; a grin and a chuckle. But his hand cradles his hip and when Key squints past the glint of hot spotlights, he sees the fingers tremble. 

The songs play on, the screams fade out and all he knows is the pounding of his heart and the sweat on his brow. Backstage, Key finds him leaning against the wall, catching his breath. 

“Jinki,” his voice temporizes and cautiously stands beside him. “Does it hurt much?”

There’s that chuckle again, forced between the panting and Jinki pivots to look at the solemn countenance. “Does what hurt?” 

He all but yelps when a hand flashes to touch his flank and jumps away as if singed.

“Don’t, Key.” The name reminds them of who they are and what they play. 

“.....I’m just tired.”

Fool, Key inwardly sighs as he watches Onew depart. You’re just human.
